How To Make Money Photographing Job Vacancies
Looking for some side hustles to earn yourself some extra cash can be quite daunting. With so many different scammy adverts on Facebook, with people praying on those needing extra cash it can be hard to figure out who you can trust.
In this guild, I cover one easy trustworthy way to earn some extra cash using Job Spotter. Job Spotter is a free app for your phone, that was created by the jobsite Indeed.co.uk. If you haven’t heard of Indeed, they’re one of the largest online job finding sites with an international presence. Used by large companies such as the National Trust. They are a trustworthy company, and their app has 4.5 stars on the Android Marketplace.
The Job Spotter app allows its users to make money photographing signs that are advertising job vacancies and uploading them to the app.
So while you’re out window shopping, going for a bite to eat etc, just keep an eye out for any signs advertising job vacancies, and spend a minute taking a photo of the sign and you’ll earn some extra cash.
How to make money with Job Spotter
To begin making money, you’ll need to download the app from the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store.
You’ll need to then sign up with Indeed or log in with an existing Indeed account. Once logged in, you will be required to accept permissions so that the app can access your location and camera.
Then when you’re out and about, if you spot a job vacancy advert, take a photograph displaying the advert. There are some basic rules to follow; the sign up must be in focus, you’ll also need to photograph the storefront with the name visible, and make sure there are no people in your photo. You’re also not allowed to upload photos taken from inside a car.
If your job vacancy photos are accepted, you’ll receive up to 150 points, with each point having a 1p value so up to £1.50 in rewards per vacancy. You get rewarded more points for signs from small businesses that show the exact job vacancy that is available, and fewer points for mass-produced “We’re Hiring, visit our website” type signs that large companies produce. So keep an eye out when visiting independent shops, cafés etc.
If multiple people upload the same job vacancy, they’ll only reward points to the first uploader.
There’s also a monthly competition, where the biggest points earners can win up to 30,000 bonus points(£300!). You do have to be really active and upload a lot of vacancies to win. So this would be most suited for those living in cities with time to dedicate to finding vacancies, as July 2019s winner had 150945 points.
When and how to cash out your points
Job Spotter only currently pays out via Amazon Gift Cards, although there is no minimum withdrawal so you can cash out whenever you want. But it can take up to 4 weeks to receive your gift card, so don’t count on it arriving in time for something you urgently need.
I recommend regularly withdrawing money, soon as you have a few job vacancies accepted, start withdrawing as if the Indeed decides to close down the app, or if Indeed goes into liquidation you may lose your points.
When you receive your giftcard, it’ll be on the form of an Amazon gift voucher code that you can add to your Amazon gift balance.
If you need cash rather than a gift card, you could then sell the gift card code to a friend, in a subreddit group or on an app such as Cardyard. You will want to have a decent amount of points in order to make this worthwhile, as services like Cardyard do sell gift card for less than the monetary value.
